Prof. Els Ortibus is director of the Centre for Developmental Disabilities, staff member of the Child Neurology Division of the University Hospitals Leuven and Professor at the KU Leuven. She is the founder and president of the Flemish Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI) Working Group and of the Belgian Cerebral Palsy Registry. She is a member of the Surveillance of CP In Europe and the national and European Societies for Pediatric Neurology and of the European Academy for Childhood Onset Disability. She supervises and contributes to several research and PhD projects, which resulted in a growing scientific output (>150 peer-reviewed scientific papers and many contributions to international meetings). Her main interests include assessment and management of CVI and cerebral palsy with a specific focus on visuomotor function. She was the PI of a national research project on the development of serious games for children with CVI and currently takes part in a large European project, VIPPSTAR, focused on improving outcome and quality of life for children and youth with visual impairment.
